Founded by Henry Hope in 1941, Hope Medical Supply began as an ambulance company and soon began providing oxygen and medical supplies.  H.R. “Duddy” Weir joined Hope Medical Supply, and acquired the company from Henry Hope, but kept the established “Hope” name.    Later, Duddy’s daughter, Kathleen Weir Vale, and her husband Albert Vale joined Hope Medical Supply, and led the business when it transitioned from ambulance service to medical supplier for hospitals and physicians, and later a DME (durable medical equipment) supplier for the home patient.  Kathleen and Albert have worked hard to always provide high quality products, excellent service, and operate the business in an ethical, upstanding way.  Kathleen and Albert’s daughter, Laura Vale, now leads Hope Medical Supply as CEO.    

Laura discovered a need for better quality urological supply and incontinence products, as well as consistent, timely monthly supplies delivered to the home.  Hope Medical Supply began receiving orders for catheters from across the country, and as a result, the business has specialized heavily in intermittent catheters and disposable medical supplies for the last decade.

Our chosen charity is Spina Bifida Texas as many of our customers are pediatric patients with Spina Bifida, and this organization is an all volunteer family support group with strong leadership and robust education and support activities.  Because Spina Bifida Texas is an all volunteer organization, charitable donations go a long way.  For inspiration, read the blog stories of some of the family members in the blog section.

We believe that the home environment fosters healing and enhances the comfort of the convalescing patient.  We know that without our services, patients would be confined to institutions, homes, or beds.  Our services make the daily difference in our patients’ lives, providing the medical equipment and supplies that increase their mobility within their homes, in their communities and in the world. 

Our Business

Hope Medical Supply is a third generation family-owned, regional home medical equipment provider which has been offering the highest quality healthcare for nearly 80 years.  As a full-service provider, we stand behind our products, services, and supplies. 

Hope Medical Supply is compliant with all local, state and federal laws.  We have been accredited since 1996, and are fully contracted with third party payors.  We invest heavily in our human resources from employee benefits to training, and employ licensed clinical and certified technical staff, as well as expert reimbursement specialists.  As an integral member of the home healthcare team, we coordinate the smooth transition of patients from institution to home, providing delivery, set-up, instruction, training, assessment, evaluation, consultation, and service.
